Black Forest Hot Cocoa

Deep, rich hot chocolate so fantastic even your lactose-intolerant friends will be wanting some. Just don't let them have any, really.
Last summer when I learned you could make your own marshmallows I knew I would be trying my hand at those. But you don't just spend an hour in the kitchen making marshmallows for no reason, so I knew that hot chocolate was in order to float them in. After a bit of research on the intarwebs this is what I put together....

Recipe: Black Forest Hot Cocoa

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz Hershey's Special Dark chocolate
  • 4 tbs powdered cocoa
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 3 tbs honey
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (to taste)

Whisk all ingredients together in a saucepan over low heat. All items are 100% absolutely to taste. Bring to desired heat then serve in mugs with Vanilla Bean Marshmallows.

The actual recipe is simplicity itself, assemble heat and serve. Just do yourself a favor and make sure you do that marshmallow thing! Totally worth it.

Oh, why the name "Black Forest Hot Cocoa"? This is so rich that it just begs for a deep dark forest blanketed in snow and ice so that this liquid gold can thaw you out.
