Bacon and Pepper Infused Kentucky Whiskey

So here we are on the final day of Piggy Week, our Salute to Swine Flu. This has been a lot of fun, I think our guest bloggers can agree to that as well as our readers. We want to thank all of you who've stopped by and read up on this deliciously insidious menace.

For the finale we have two posts today, and this is one of them.

That picture shows you my latest experiment with foodstuffs. Take one liter of Kentucky whiskey, add in four strips of nicely crisped bacon along with about 1 tbs of crushed pepper corns. Note that in order to fit all of that stuff in you may need to drink a little of it. Sad panda. Put the topper back on and place on the back shelf of the liquor cabinet. Now, you'll notice that there are no after pictures. Well, that's because about 5 minutes after I loaded up the whiskey bottle (it's usually the other way around!) the liquid went all cloudy and nasty looking. Kinda reminds me of some of my failed HS science class experiments. Well, fear not dear Nommy readers. I shall let this concoction sit for a month and then press forward, heedless of the risk to my own person. Oh, and I found this recipe online for a drink using this stuff:

Canadian Old Fashioned

1/2 oz maple syrup

dash or two (to taste) of bitters

2 oz bacon-infused bourbon

1 orange twist to garnish

Place syrup and bitters in Old Fashioned glass. Add ice if desired. Add bourbon and garnish with twist. Makes 1 drink.

Sounds pretty tasty! I'll follow up on this post weekly to tell you all how it goes. Peace!!
