I thought I would do a quick post about one of my more recent adventures in cooking to get this started about food. I'm going to plug www.tastespotting.com real quick here as this has become a recent source of recipes for me.

I was flipping around in there when my wife mentioned that she would like to make pizza one night last week. I found a recipe for Italian flat bread that I nabbed from Kleiner Kuriositätenladen or "Little Curiosity Shop" when translated. The recipe is in German, using Google Translate the page appears in English (for the most part) and with a bit of figuring out I was able to figure out the recipe. 3 - 1/2 Cups Flour 1 Package of Dry Yeast Pinch of sugar 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt 2 T Butter 1 Egg 1 Cup milk Mix the Flour, Yeast, Sugar, & Salt in a bowl. Add Milk, Butter, and the Egg to the mix and knead until it comes together in one piece. Put in a bowl and cover and let sit for an hour. Come back and cut off some dough about the size of a plum and flatten it with a rolling pin. I flattened mine to about 1/8 of an inch thick. Have a pan set to medium heat and ready to go throw your flattened dough into the pan and cook for a couple minutes on each side. That’s it … was rather easy. Some notes ... 1 - You need to hand kneed this dough ... it never does come together if you try to use a mixer with the bread hook. 2 - Keep the unused portion you are not working with covered. 3 - I found it easiest if you made 2 pieces and then started cooking them while you continue to roll out more. 4 - I would cut off a little more dough than I needed to make one piece of flat bread then take my knife and cut it to size / shape.

And this is what I made ... Italian flat bread Pizza's I used Basil, Garlic, and Olive Oil and brushed each pizza with that then laid my ingredients on top. Starting from top left going right: 1 - Mushroom, Bell pepper, & Artichoke Hearts 2 - Tomato, Mushroom, & Spinach 3 - Shrimp, Mediterranean Olives, & Peppercinni 4 - Shrimp, Artichoke Hearts, Spinach, & Bell Pepper 5 - Pepperoni, Mushroom, & Bell Pepper 6 - Tomato, Bell Pepper, Mushroom, & Extra Basil They were oh so yummy!
