First ... those that voted for me THANKS! ... to those that did not may your hands get caught in your Kitchen-aid Paddle! Kidding ... mostly! So yeah ... I'm a bit disappointed that one of the guest judges decided to dock me points for artistic creativity (or as she put it "a blurry photo") and for calling my Maki rolls ... complex. Complex?!
What is so complex about Rice, Nori Paper, Salmon, & Cream Cheese. Uhh ... anyways! The other judge ... from Danger Kitten Bakes well let me quote.
While I don’t think chile sauce is typically eaten with sushi, other hot and spicy foods are, so it’s a new flavor with a traditional idea. As someone who has never made sushi or anything Japanese...Obviously as good as a cook as she is ( and I've been all over her site and the things she makes leave me starving regardless if I ate recently or not.) ... she's not very learned in Japanese food ... which is OK. One would assume since she doesn't make it that she is probably not a big fan of it and that would lower the "looks good" factor for her a bit. Now I knew that I would be hit or miss with the sushi ... but did they catch that I MADE MY OWN NORI. Ugg! Hours and Hours in that kitchen. Next time it appears that if I want to win a cooking contest I need to tone down my creativity and Uniqueness and make burgers and pizza. I still recommend foodiefights.com as it's an awesome idea and I will enter again and again.
