In which I talk about life

So my plan was to spend last night working up my entry for Foodie Fights #14. Heh... plans. Instead the universe decided that I would be busy working until late. Too late, in fact, to do any cooking.
So I threw myself at the mercy of Dan and Nick, the Foodie Fight Dons. I begged, I pleaded, I held my breath. Eventually they gave in and told me that I had until tonight (no later than dinner, and be on time this time!) to wrap it up and turn it in. Below is my beautiful daughter Gabby. Yes, that's a delivery bed she's lying in. No, that's not a kitchen where I could set up my entry (Pecan and Bacon Wrapped Pork Loins, and it was gonna be da BOMB). Yes, I have other priorities tonight. My grandson will utter his announcement scream at the world sometime before dawn tomorrow. Damn straight there'll be pictures!

UPDATE: My grandson entered the world this morning at 6:05 weighing in at 6lbs and 3oz, all fingers and toes properly accounted for. I've been up all night so sleep first, pictures to come. Well, here he is. We have our own little Gollum in the house folks! He's very long, VERY active and alert and has a pair of lungs on him... let's just say he takes after mom.
